Tuesday night’s football sees the Carabao Cup enter its second round as the first batch of Premier League teams are added to the mix.
Ipswich, Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Leeds are amongst those making their cup bows this week, with all of them hoping for a good run in the competition to counteract their lack of European football.

Ipswich to win
Poor Russell Martin. After such a tumultuous campaign as Rangers boss, he would have hoped for a much smoother start to life at Leicester in League One this season, but alas, that has not been the case. The Foxes are yet to win in the league this season after drawing with Notts County on the opening day and losing at home to Burton on Saturday.
In contrast, Ipswich returned to the Premier League with a win on Saturday, beating Sunderland 2-1 at home. The victory means that the Tractor Boys have already equalled their home record from their last Premier League campaign and will hope to continue their good run here.
With the gap in quality and current fortunes being quite vast, I can see nothing other than an Ipswich win in this one.

The Hammers haven’t quite enjoyed their start to life in the Championship as much as they might have expected this campaign, with a 2-1 home defeat to Charlton at the weekend, leaving them with just one point after two games. Nuno Espírito Santo will be hoping that the Carabao Cup can provide them with the second win of the season, after seeing off Portsmouth in the first round, but a trip to St Mary’s might make that quite difficult.
