Football Tips: Thursday’s 7/1 Acca from La Liga & Ligue 1

Thursday night’s European games come from La Liga and Ligue 1, and we’ll begin in France where Lille travel to Toulouse to take on a side that have looked rather lacklustre. Then to Spain where Real Sociedad take on a Celta Vigo side who have earned just a single point over their three games so far.

Toulouse v Lille – Lille to win & both teams to score

The consistently inconsistent Toulouse have begun the new season in standard fashion, drawing one and losing one. On home soil last season they won six, drew six and lost five, scoring 25 goals over those 17 games, conceding 24.

Lille got their campaign off to a good start, winning 2-0 in their opening fixture away to Angers, but over the weekend threw away a 2-0 lead when facing champions PSG on home turf, thanks to two injury-time goals from Vitinha and Marquinhos. In fairness to PSG, they created the most chances, and it would’ve been harsh on them to lose, but Lille’s collapse shows they haven’t yet cast away last season’s problems.

That said, they’ve won this fixture in three of their last four visits and certainly have the superior firepower and a far stronger midfield. The hosts should at least make a dent, however, averaging more than a goal per game at home last season, and the travelling side conceded 20 in their 17 on their travels last season as well.

Taking the away side to win has an appealing price as things are, but we can add some extra juice to the pick by backing the hosts to draw some blood.

Real Sociedad v Celta Vigo – Real Sociedad to win

Neither side can be too happy with how things have started for them this season. Real Sociedad have won one and lost two, albeit one of those losses was a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Real Madrid, where Kylian Mbappe bagged a hat-trick.

Celta Vigo have been pretty dire though, taking just a point from their three La Liga games so far, a dour 0-0 opening draw away to Valencia. Since then, Claudio Giraldez’s side have lost 2-1 to Osasuna and 2-0 to Athletic Bilbao, both of which were at home.

On their travels last season, they’d been great, losing just four times, one of which was a 3-1 loss to Sociedad. It’s difficult to see them being such a force on the road this term, considering how many defenders and midfielders departed over the summer. The hosts can heap more misery on a side that already looks low on confidence here.
