Still lightly raced and with today’s extra yardage promising to suit, recent course runner-up FAST SOCIETY is preferred in a tight race.
Eagle Day might well try to dominate from the front as when reeled in by a well-handicapped rival here last time, with stablemate King’s Code running on encouragingly late in the day.
17:00 – Straight A
Several of these come into this in fine form, including Friday’s Southwell winner, Overnight Oats, and the four-timer seeking Tea Sea.
Despite the shorter trip, Paradoxical has to go on the shortlist, having escaped a penalty for his recent win here.
Dual C&D winner Ciotog should appreciate the return here and so should STRAIGHT A, 2-4 at this track and who ran really well when narrowly beaten at Kempton last time.
17:30 – Bryant
George Scott’s 220,000gns colt BRYANT is one of only two runners with experience in the line-up and he ran well for a long way behind some useful prospects at Yarmouth in October.
He sets a fair standard on that form and is open to progress on his return.
El Ghaawy looks the part on paper and he’s feared most, although Kintbury catches the eye along with Big Take, whose yard had a 19% record in maidens last year.
18:00 – Layla Liz
It’s hard to rule out any of these but top of the list is the unexposed LAYLA LIZ, who was an emphatic winner over C&D on Boxing Day and is open to more progress on this switch to a handicap.
Blinky and Fallen Soldier finished second and third in a similar race at Southwell last time and they’re feared most in that order.
Winchurch could be dangerous if he gets a good pace and some luck, while Thirsk winner Neytiri Te Tskaha still has potential and needs a close look on her stable debut.
18:30 – Enzos Angel
Preference is for ENZOS ANGEL, who got back on the scoresheet with a clearcut win over C&D last month and is a major player again if he can back that up.
The lightly raced 4yo Marioento is feared most ahead of Pessoa, who had an excuse last time and that was after two seconds at this track.
The other one on the shortlist is City Escape, who returned from a break with an eye-catching third over C&D 20 days ago.
19:00 – Neptune Legend
Rogue Thunder could make a big impact if he gets a good tow into the race, while the same comment applies to Heartrate, who wasn’t beaten far at Chelmsford last time and is well-treated on some C&D form in the autumn.
However, the most solid option is NEPTUNE LEGEND, who has form figures of 32213 since November and that latest third was a close call at Southwell on Friday.
19:30 – Due Date
Preference is for dual C&D winner DUE DATE, who battled well to defy a tough draw in a classified event at Chelmsford last time and remains feasibly treated on this return to a handicap.
Back Tomorrow was never dangerous in her bid for a C&D four-timer last week, but that was against a pace bias and she could pose a big threat if this sets up for her closing style.
Under Curfew has each-way claims on his step back up in trip, while Glory Call also enters the reckoning.
20:00 – Mumayaz
This looks competitive, but it might be worth sticking with MUMAYAZ. He has been as good as ever with his strong-finishing wins on Tapeta in the last two runs and may well be able to complete the hat-trick.
Rosenpur has won two of his last three starts and he’s feared most ahead of Angel Of England and the admirable veteran Muscika.
Others to consider are Lihou and Bill Plumb who are both on dangerous marks.
20:30 – Charlie Mason
Whenthedealinsdone was awarded a race last month after Hierarchy’s jockey weighed in light and he could be a big factor if this sets up for his closing style.
Hierachy has held his form well since that disqualification and he’s strongly respected, while the veteran Brian The Snail also enters the reckoning on this step back up in trip.
However, the vote goes to CHARLIE MASON, who justified support with something in hand over C&D three weeks ago, and a 3lb rise for that success looks fair.
