19:15pm: Peter Wright v Stephen Bunting – Stephen Bunting 5-3 win
Up first we have a brilliant tie between the Master’s champion, and the people’s champion these days Stephen Bunting against the two-time World champion Peter Wright.
Wright stunned everyone in the world of darts with his win over the defending champion Luke Humphries last time out, where he averaged over 100, and what was the most impressive was his finishing at 70% on the outer ring. The big question now is whether he can do it again.
If you look at his performances throughout 2024, he was certainly inconsistent, which leads me to believe that Stephen Bunting will come through here. Bunting has been one of the most consistent performers on tour. He won the Master’s title at the beginning of 2024, and yes, while he didn’t pick up another title, he did make six other pro tour finals.
I’m going for a Stephen Bunting 5-3 win.
21:00pm: Luke Littler v Nathan Aspinall – Luke Littler to have a 9 dart finish
In the second quarter-final of the night, we have Luke Littler, last year’s Premier League, Grand Slam, and World Series final winner, going head-to-head with one of his good friends, Nathan Aspinall.
Aspinall has been okay so far, averaging in the mid to low 90s. But for Littler, as always, he’s been the star of the show really. He hasn’t had it all his own way. I think that some people will look at some of his previous performances as showing a bit of vulnerability, but how he’s responded, how he’s managed to come through, like against Ryan Joyce, for example, who was throwing everything at him, leads me to think that he’ll do it again here.
There’s value here in backing a 9-darter happening here. Littler has hit a 9-darter against Aspinall previously.
They’ll both be in really good spirits up on that stage, it’ll be really relaxed, as I’ve said they’re both good friends and will bring the best out of each other.
