13:15 Ascot – Hardy Fella

My day starts with Hardy Fella who won well at Marker Rasen last time. He’s gone up 5lb in the weights for that win over 2m 7f and it’s a nice spare ride to pick up for Emma Lavelle. There are 17 runners declared so it’s going to be very competitive.

14:25 Ascot – Samarrive

He’s been slightly disappointing of late but has dropped down the handicap. He’s more effective going right-handed though and is fit and well at home. He might be a little over-priced and I think Samarrive will run well on Saturday.

15:00 Ascot – Threeunderthrufive

THREEUNDERTHRUFIVE made his seasonal reappearance at Ascot a few weeks back. He ran very well, finished third and probably needed the outing. He’s obviously carrying a lot of weight in this race and probably isn’t that well handicapped on Saturday.

Despite that, he’s ultra consistent, fresh and well, and we’re hoping for a big run from him – despite not having much in hand of of the handicapper. He holds an entry in the Aintree Grand National.

 

15:37 Ascot – Pic D’orhy

PIC D’ORHY won this contest (the Betfair Ascot Chase) last year and he’s very effective around Ascot. He hasn’t had many runs so far this season as he’s been targeted for this race. We’re pretty hopeful he’s the one to beat.

I absolutely would not get off him to ride one of the others.

16:45 Ascot – Jackie Hobbs

She won nicely on her first time out for trainer Harry Derham and looks very straightforward. Jackie Hobbs looks a great spare ride to pick up and fingers crossed she has a big chance on Saturday.
