13:50 – Foster’sisland

With Micky Hammond’s yard in better form than they have been for most of the winter, it could pay to side with course winner FOSTER’SISLAND, who has shown glimpses of his old ability this campaign and should benefit from this drop in grade after failing to get competitive at Wetherby last time.

Both Barrels would be a big danger if in the same form as when winning over course and distance last season, while Stay If U Want To would appreciate it if this becomes a test of stamina.

14:20 – We’re Red And Blue

Both market principals arrive with something to prove, but Jonjo & A. J. O’Neill’s WE’RE RED AND BLUE can bounce back under the same positive tactics that were employed when he was successful at Carlisle on his penultimate run.

Juvenile Maitre En Science is the standout danger judged on his French form and could be much better than he showed on his stable debut. Burning It Up can collect some minor prize money on his way to contesting handicaps.

14:50 – Wise Eagle

A smart stayer on the Flat for Adam Nicol, it would be disappointing if WISE EAGLE did not prove to be better than his current mark over hurdles.

Having won maiden/novice races at Musselburgh and Catterick with plenty in hand, he’s taken to make a successful handicap debut in this sphere, ahead of course-and-distance winner Coniston George, who will be hoping for a sound gallop at this trip.

Consistent first-season hurdler Maghlaak can run creditably once again.

15:20 – Prairie Wolf

PRAIRIE WOLF was back to his best for Joel Parkinson & Sue Smith when catching his rivals napping at Haydock before beating Prince Quali four lengths last month and appeals as the most solid option with Peter Kavanagh in the plate again.

Unexposed mare El Elefante may get an uncontested lead here and rates the main threat, having resumed her progress and got back to winning ways in another four-runner contest at Ayr last month.

15:50 – Myretown

Lucinda Russell’s MYRETOWN was still going well when falling at a tricky fence at Windsor four weeks ago, so remains a chaser to keep on the right side. Prior to that, he’d beaten his two rivals at Wetherby on Boxing Day in impressive fashion.

Grand Albert is another who has taken very well to fences and is the obvious threat after he, too, won by a wide margin at Wetherby in December from the reopposing Dare To Shout.

16:20 – Primoz

Things haven’t gone to plan for PRIMOZ since showing plenty of promise on his chasing debut for Lucinda Russell at Wetherby in October, but his latest third at Ayr was at least a step back in the right direction, and he has more potential than his two seasoned rivals.

The reliable Pay The Piper, who chased home Primoz on similar terms at Wetherby, is the solid alternative, with last year’s winner Escapeandevade arriving with a bit to prove.

16:50 – Japetus

This could go to a debutant, with preference for Nicky Richards’ Juddmonte cast-off JAPETUS, whose yard has been going well in bumpers, including with a couple of winners first time up.

Irish point runner-up Imperfectlyperfect also represents a trainer, Lucinda Russell, who enjoys success in this sphere, with the latter’s stablemate Kool Raoul the pick of those with previous bumper experience after shaping well when a keeping-on second at Musselburgh.
