13:20 More Coko

It’s very hard to see past the Willie Mullins raider MORE COKO, who can make it 3-3. Patrick Mullins has made a habit of nipping around the UK for wins at different courses, and he should have another armchair ride aboard the easy Tramore winner, with testing ground holding no fears.

C&D runner-up Throatlash, who travelled well when chasing home an odds-on shot in December, is the obvious one to follow him home unless the betting speaks in the favour of Nicky Richards newcomer King Coconut who is closely related to the 2m3f/2m4f hurdle winner Presenting Doyen.

13:50 Galunggung

GALUNGGUNG, who recorded a hat-trick last spring before signing off for the season, took a step forward from his first two starts this term when a good second at Ayr recently and looks the most solid option by some way. Stablemate Barrabooka, a winner on testing ground between the flags, is one to watch in the betting.

If Bleu d’Enfer puts in a good round of jumping he may well emerge as the main danger, despite being 6lb higher than in Ireland, while Great Pepper will also be a threat if he takes to fences at the first time of asking following an off-season wind-op.

14:20 Mongibelle

Irish-raider MONGIBELLO, who was far from disgraced when fifth in a Grade 3 at Fairyhouse a week ago, holds much the best form on show so is taken to bag a second success in this sphere.

Despite receiving 7lb from the winners, Wendywilldo could again have to settle for runner-up spot despite being weighted to turn the tables with Just Call Me Lucy from their good Wetherby tussle last time out. Both Jolie Mareca and Vroomoz Eile will need to take another step forward if they are to trouble the principals.

14:55 Divas Doyen

Mares with a bit of experience have tended to take this handicap, with eight- and nine-year-olds winning in each of the last four years, and the one who appeals most this time around is DIVAS DOYEN.

She opened her account when seeing off the re-opposing Similar Story over this C&D in November and has lost little caste in defeat in a couple of Musselburgh handicaps since. Course winner Gipsy Lee Rose is respected, with her recent form with Croagh Patrick looking solid, and is feared most ahead of the unexposed Millie Supreme who fell on her recent chasing debut.

15:30 Heritier

A trappy eight-runner contest. With a few who race prominently, this could set up nicely for the strong-travelling HERITIER who won around here three starts ago and hasn’t had things go to plan the last twice.

Talented and temperamental, Timeform ‘Horse In Focus’ Golden Maverick would be a big danger if the visor has the same impact again; Jamie Snowden has sent 26 horses to Carlisle in his training career, resulting in seven winners and 13 horses that have finished in the first four. The improving Kalium is worthy of an honourable mention, while C&D winner Eire Street would be an interesting contender back at this trip if ready to roll after another absence.

16:00 Breeze Of Wind

Not as competitive as the numbers suggest, and despite a 9lb higher mark this year, BREEZE OF WIND is fancied to repeat his victory in this contest 12 months ago, having not been seen to best effect when fourth at Wetherby last time out.

As well as the Timeform ‘Horse In Focus’ flag, Breeze Of Wind also has the ‘Horses For Courses’ flag, with the return to Carlisle very much a positive for a horse whose three other wins have come at Uttoxeter and Hexham (2), venues that require a horse to keep digging deep when others have cried enough. Course-scorer Travail d’Orfevre could emerge as the main danger, although Torosay, Dusautior and Cream of The West all need factoring in too.

16:33 They Want Me

Those with bumper experience don’t set the bar that high so perhaps this can go to Donald McCain’s THEY WANT ME, who had a subsequent bumper winner behind him in second when landing an Irish point on testing ground at Punchestown’s course a year ago.

Noble George, who was sent off at just 100/30 when second at Sedgefield on debut, can give him most to do unless there is clear progression from Peckforton Hills after his two-month break.
