This looks a good opportunity for HOLLY BIRD who ran perfectly well behind the classy Country Mile on her final start. Golden Point is out of a sister to Al Boum Photo so may want further, but she’s feared most, with Derek Fox preferring her to Reflection Of You.

14:00 – Travail d’Ofevre

This can go to TRAVAIL D’ORFEVRE, who is much better known for his exploits over shorter trips, but gave a good account upped to 4m in a valuable race at Kelso last month and has slipped to a good mark. Destiny Is All is only 1lb higher than his C&D win in October, and is feared most, although his stablemate Monochromix looks worth another crack at 3m and is also of interest.

14:35 – Tommy Combats (NAP)

Top of the list is lightly raced 6yo TOMMY COMBATS (nap), who made it second-time lucky over fences in a strong finishing burst at Hexham. A 5lb rise for that success looks fair enough and he’s open to progress in this sphere. The main dangers are Raffles Wonder (second choice) and Heeztheboy who finished third and fourth behind the selection last month and were not beaten far in that race.

15:10 – Maghlaak

With him so useful on the Flat, it’s no surprise to see MAGHLAAK doing well over hurdles and he can bring up the hat-trick. Yorkshire Lady can be given a chance to bounce back from her underwhelming handicap debut, while Rock On Jet can also feature.

15:45 – Baratablet

Kevlar is marginally preferred over Kelvin Forlonge, of those with bumper experience, but some of the newcomers are interesting. Auchinlek is out of a smart jumper and dons the colours made famous by Honeysuckle, while BARATABLET represents a yard that’s won this bumper twice since 2019. Lester Mail also catches the eye
