15:30 Newcastle – Rainwater

It’s all about whether he settles in the early stages as RAINWATER has only recently been asked to go 1m 2f. He also gets the added bonus of his jockey Warren Fentiman being allowed to use his 7lb claim. He can start to improve his all-weather profile now.

16:30 Newcastle – Lima Sierra

She has stepped forward a little since going handicapping with a couple of good efforts at this venue over the minimum 5f and today’s 6f trip. LIMA SIERRA was doing a little bit too much in the early stages last time and did well to finish second behind a fairly easy winner. She’s been eased 1lb in the weights too.

17:15 Southwell – Countess Candy

She comes from a decent family of multiple winners and already has graced the winners enclosure over 1m 2f at Newcastle on her second start. COUNTESS CANDY  goes up an extra quarter mile in trip, and if she stays, it could open up a few options for her going forward. I doubt she’s at her ceiling rating yet.

18:00 Newcastle – Caffu Zafeen

The three-year-old has his first try for the David Simcock stable having already run particularly well from slightly higher in the ratings. Although he’s not particularly well drawn in stall two, CAFFU ZAFEEN has been gelded and that can help him improve again.

19:15 Southwell – Ring Of Gold

Doesn’t have a particularly decent wins-to-runs ratio, but RING OF GOLD looks ready to roll from a mark of just 57, after having a couple of return runs to put him spot on fitness wise. He made eye-catching late headway from a long way back last time and provided he gets a pace to run at, he should prove too strong for this field. He’ll be going the shortest way round – as he’s drawn in stall one.

19:45 Southwell – Katie G

She can gain another deserved success on a synthetic surface having already proven herself  over this course and distance, off this mark. Jockey Hector Crouch couldn’t be in any better form and trainer Ed Dunlop looks to have found an ideal opportunity for her to win again. KATIE G was slightly outpaced over the sharper six furlongs at Chelmsford in the last twice and a return to this venue is a major plus.
