Thursday night could be a historic evening for Shamrock Rovers and Irish football as Molde land in Dublin for the second leg of their Knockout Phase Playoff tie in the UEFA Conference League. Stephen Bradley’s side are aiming to reach the Last 16 stage of the competition for the first time and hold a 1-0 advantage.

This is a fantastic story for Shamrock Rovers. This is what the Conference League is all about. When it first started, I was a bit unsure, but then West Ham went and won it, and that was a brilliant night.

It allows teams like Shamrock Rovers and other Irish sides to have the opportunity to progress in Europe.

16-year-old Noonan scored the only goal last week. Then he went off to school the very next day, and his mum brilliantly took a picture of him in the morning on his way. I thought that was brilliant!

I wish him all the best. It’s a great story, and I’m going with my heart here and back the Irishmen to get the job done with a win.

I fancy they will play with a 5-4-1 formation. The crowd will be ecstatic, and that will drive them on. I’m going for Rovers to win and keep a clean sheet.

On many occasions, Molde wouldn’t be the favourite team to win to take the game to the opposition away from home and win, and I expect Shamrock Rovers to hold on for a low-scoring win.
