Manchester City v Newcastle โ Alexander Isak to score
Man City come into Saturdayโs game after a humiliating 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid earlier in the week, somehow managing to lose a game that they had won. There are major issues in the Man City defence and Pep Guardiola hasnโt found a way to shore them up at the back, despite January reinforcements.
Theyโve conceded in six straight games following a clean sheet against Ipswich and in that time frame, theyโve allowed 15 goals. This differs from what weโve seen from Man City, who has always been strong at the back under Pep.
We could see a big afternoon for Alexander Isak with Cityโs defence struggling. Newcastleโs super Swede has been a prolific scorer this season, heโs scored in seven of 11 Premier League game on the road, including bagging in his last five starts away from home.
Heโs now racked up a total of 17 goals in 22 league games and will be a threat to Cityโs backline.
Southampton v Bournemouth โ Bournemouth to win
Regardless of Southampton winning their last Premier League game, a 2-1 win over Ipswich, this is a team who have won just twice all season and sit rock bottom of the Premier League on nine points and are in danger of matching Derbyโs infamous points tally.
Theyโve given up a Premier League-high 54 goals in just 24 games while scoring just 18 times, the fewest in the league by a margin.
With goal scoring an issue, itโs not a perfect time to host Bournemouth, who have conceded just 28 goals, the fourth fewest in the Premier League. However, this Bournemouth team isnโt just good at the back; theyโre entertainers with an exciting attack, too.
Theyโve won three of their past five and are, without a doubt, the most surprising team this season, playing far above expectations. Theyโre one point behind Man City and Newcastle, which shows the level theyโve been at this year.
The away team should come out on top in this South Coast clash.
Aston Villa v Ipswichย โ Aston Villa to win and Over 2.5 goals
Ipswich has a difficult trip away to the Midlands to face Aston Villa. Nobody In the Premier League is on a worse run of form than Ipswich, who are tumbling down the table and have lost four straight in the league.
Theyโve just got the three wins on the season and look set to lose again to a Villa side who bounced back from a league defeat to Wolves with a 2-1 victory over Spurs in the FA Cup last weekend.
Ipswich have given up at least a goal in their past five games, so we should see goals. Aston Villa have seen Over 2.5 goals land in 16 of their 24 games this season, and thereโs always a chance of an Ipswich goal, given that Villa have conceded in 21 of 24 games this season.
So expect Villa to win, especially given their quality and home advantage, but there should be goals.
Fulham v Nottingham Forest โ Fulham Over 0.5 first half goals
Itโs been an incredible season for Nottingham Forest so far, built on defensive stability, but despite that, weโre taking Fulham to score in the first half of their home game against Forest. Fulhamโs great season is going slightly below the radar, with two wins in their past three and not far from a European spot.
The London club have been fast starters in the Premier League, with a goal in the opening 45 minutes of eight of their 12 games at Craven Cottage. Thatโs only two goals behind Man City, who have scored in the most first halves at home this season.
West Ham v Brentford โ Both teams to score? Yes
Itโs not been the start that Graham Potter wanted for his tenure at West Ham, with just one win in the five games since he took charge of the club.
However, there have been some promising signs. Theyโve improved and scored in four of those five games. Unfortunately, they have conceded in all five.
Both teams have scored in 16 of their 24 Premier League games this season, including eight of their 12 games at the London Stadium.
They face a Brentford team who continue to perform well and havenโt dipped without Ivan Toney, as many expected.
Theyโve given up 42 goals in 24 games while scoring the exact same amount.
Weโve seen Both teams to score land in 17 of their Premier League games this season, including the last time these teams met in September.
