Excitement is growing for the greatest race on turf after the Grand National weights were released for this year’s renewal.
I Am Maximus is set to carry 11st 12lbs in his bid to land back-to-back editions as he heads the handicap off a mark of 167.
It represents an 8lb hike from last term and the defending champion would be the highest-rated winner of the 21st century if he is successful.
I Am Maximus is one of three Willie Mullins-trained hopefuls in the top 10 as Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup second Grangeclare West and Thyestes winner Nick Rockett are rated 163 by the British handicapper.
The antepost favourite, Inothewayurthinkin, is currently the ninth highest-rated horse off a mark of 160.
Delta Work, who finished second last year and third in 2022, is set to carry 11st 2lb and 2024 bronze medallist Minella Indo is in line to lumber 11st 3lb around Aintree.
Betfair Chase winner Royale Pagaille is the highest-rated British hopeful.
