Crouchy’s Shouts: Marmoush makes his mark in 9/1 Arsenal v Man City punt

In recent seasons it has often felt like the Premier League title would come down to Arsenal v Man City – at least if you listened to Gooners.

This season, the North London side are keeping up their end of the bargain as they oh-so-closely make it almost a title race, but it’s the previously all-conquering electric blues of Manchester who’ve fallen off the pace at the top of the table.

Still, there’s plenty at stake both in the title race and scrap for Champions League places, and Peter Crouch fancies the champions to show what they’re made of on Sunday – and remember Paddy’s Super Sub offer means your bet rolls on even if your player selection gets taken off early…

Arsenal v Man City Bet Builder

We’re used to this being looked at as a title-decider in recent season, but it’s not quite that this year. That’s partly down to Liverpool’s great form but City have not been the same team that they were last year.

Arsenal are still in with a shout of the league title though – they’re six points off top but Liverpool have a game in hand. That really makes this a must-win for them if they want to keep those hopes alive.

A draw probably doesn’t cut it with the way Liverpool are playing.

They got the job done in midweek in the Champions League and finished third in the standings, and they’re second in the Premier League. All-in-all, I think it’s not been a bad season so far and the criticism they’ve taken seems unfair. Defensively, they’re fantastic, they have had a few injury problems further up the pitch – like everyone other team – but they are still in the mix.

They also showed last weekend that they can overcome adversity. They won despite that Lewis-Skelly red card and several other big absences. They might not be tearing it up like Liverpool are, but they manage to find ways to win. That’s important.

As for City, it’s hard to know what to make of them right now. You felt like they were bouncing back after their bad spell, but you can’t really say that with much confidence as you don’t really know how they’ll be from game to game. They’ll be brilliant one minute and very average the next.

You’d have thought the Chelsea win last week might be a turning point for them this season because they played really well and it felt like they were coming back, but then they struggled in the first half against Club Brugge. Their class showed in the end on Wednesday night though.

And I do have a feeling they can climb back up the league – I don’t see them winning it from where they are now, but they can definitely secure a top four spot.

That unpredictability does make them a threat for Arsenal and their title hopes on Sunday.

Double chance: Man City & Draw

That was a big win on Wednesday night for Pep Guardiola’s side and an important fight back. If they’d lost they were gone out of Europe! It should give them a bit of confidence back.

There’s the history between the two managers and the history of recent seasons too and a rivalry building up between the sides.

There’s still Saka’s injury for Arsenal too. It means there’s a bit of an over-reliance on Havertz in attack.

And that makes me think City can get a result even though Arsenal are at home and favourites with Paddy.

Omar Marmoush 1+ shots on target

City have brought in a few new faces too. Clearly they are coming into a side struggling for confidence – this isn’t a City team firing on all cylinders, where all you need to do is lay the ball off to Rodri or Kevin De Bruyne and that’s it. We saw that with Khusanov on his debut against Chelsea and I really felt for him. It’s not easy to get up to speed that quick when you come into a team midseason.

But they are winning more games again now and in Omar Marmoush they’ve signed a player I like the look of. He was unlucky not to get a goal against Chelsea and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get his first for the club on Sunday, so a shot on target should be nailed on for me.

Erling Haaland to score

And they do have Erling Haaland in the team and back scoring too – he has three in his last four games and I’ll take him to strike again.

Kai Havertz 2+ shots

As I said, Arsenal are relying on Havertz to do a lot in attack, especially with Saka not due back until March. It makes him worth a bet in this game.as he looks the likeliest goal threat, so I’ll take him to have a couple of shots at least.

Kai Havertz to commit 1+ fouls

And, in that central role he also has to make a few challenges every game and often commits a foul or two so I’ll take him to have at lest one on Sunday as well.

Peter Crouch’s Arsenal v Man City tips

Double Chance: Man City & Draw
Erling Haaland to score
Omar Marmoush 1+ shots on target
Kai Havertz 2+ shots
