Premier League Predictions: Lawro sees Liverpool win but Arsenal to stumble

As the 2024/25 Premier League season rounds the bend and embarks on the long journey to the finish line, Paddy’s pal Mark Lawrenson is showing trademark stamina as he continues to gaze into his crystal ball every single week.

The Soccer Soothsayer has read the signs and tested which way the footballing winds are blowing to produce his Premier League predictions over the coming days. Let’s see what the future holds…

Saturday 12.30pm: Nott’m Forest v Brighton

Both of these got beaten last time and no-one saw Nottingham Forest losing 5-0 to Bournemouth, as good as Bournemouth are. It’s funny this year how a couple of teams have gone on good runs and then got absolutely battered. Brighton got Moysey’d by Everton so both want to get back on the horse. I’m going to side with Brighton here, that would have been a real blow to Forest last week and it might take them a while to find their footing again. Nottingham Forest 1-2 Brighton.

Saturday 3pm: Bournemouth v Liverpool

Bournemouth’s starting XI in their last two games have been pretty much everyone who’s fit at the club so that Forest win was a sensational result. They completely mullered them but it’s Liverpool and the Big Heads have had a rest in the Champions League. I’ve said it before but everything Liverpool touch at the moment turns to gold. Bournemouth 1-3 Liverpool.

Saturday 3pm: Everton v Leicester

Leicester have to replicate how they played when beating Tottenham so that will give them a lift but Everton are on the up with David Moyes. This is a huge game for Leicester but I still feel they conceded too many goals. I fancy a draw in this one. Everton 1-1 Leicester.

Saturday 3pm: Ipswich v Southampton

This is huge for Ipswich if they’re going to stay up. They simply have to win his game. I look at Southampton and they’re just not there mentally, are they? They conceded stupid goals all the time and I don’t think their star man Tyler Dibling is fit, or maybe that’s to do with the transfer window as plenty of teams seem to want him. Ipswich 2-0 Southampton.

Saturday 3pm: Newcastle v Fulham

Fulham are tough to play against and, while that Manchester United game was a hard watch, they conceded with the only shot on goal so you could argue they were a bit unlucky there. Newcastle beat Southampton last week and I think they’ll just about back that up. Newcastle 2-1 Fulham.

Saturday 5.30pm: Wolves v Aston Villa

Aston Villa have picked up and the goals have started to return. Wolves had a couple of opportunities to take the lead against a 10-man Arsenal and went on to lose which perfectly sums up their season. Wolves 1-2 Aston Villa.

Sunday 2pm: Brentford v Tottenham

Brentford score for fun and they had a good result away at Crystal Palace. Because it’s Tottenham and the opposite of what you expect always seems to happen I’ll stick my neck out for a Spurs win. Brentford 1-2 Tottenham.

Sunday 2pm: Man Utd v Crystal Palace

Manchester United had to travel to Romania on Thursday night which is not ideal for them. I just don’t see Crystal Palace going there and getting anything. I don’t think they’ll have enough to upset the apple cart. Manchester United 2-0 Crystal Palace.

Sunday 4.30pm: Arsenal v Man City

Manchester City are not back to their best but they are winning games. If you’re not playing well but winning that’s a great sign. Arsenal always seem to shoot themselves in the foot at the moment so, and I would love this, I’m going to go for a draw. It’s conspiring this season that Liverpool are going to win the league and it would make sense for this to end in the perfect result for them! Arsenal 1-1 Manchester City.

Monday 8pm: Chelsea v West Ham

There’s lots of stories around this game, it’s a big rivalry and a big derby. West Ham are trying desperately to sign a striker and Graham Potter’s going back to Stamford Bridge so this could be quite fun. Chelsea have the better players and home advantage so I’ll side with them. Chelsea 2-1 West Ham.
