Let’s get Mark Webster’s verdict for this evening’s entertainment.

7.15pm: Martin Schindler v Callan Rydz – Callan Rydz to win 3-2
8.15pm: Ross Smith v Paolo Nebrida – Ross Smith to win 3-0
9.15pm: Gary Anderson v Jeffery De Graaf – Gary Anderson to win, most 180s & highest checkout
10.15pm: Dimitri van den Bergh v Dylan Slevin – Dimitri van den Bergh to win 3-0

Martin Schindler v Callan Rydz – Callan Rydz to win 3-2

Kicking things off, we have Martin Schindler taking on Callan Rydz. Rydz was really impressive in Round 1, that was the Callan Rydz we saw three years ago at the World Championship when he had a run to the quarter-finals and you can’t ignore that form.

I think he’s going to come through here. It’s going to be tight, but I can see a little upset here, and I think Rydz will do it in a deciding set.

Ross Smith v Paolo Nebrida – Ross Smith to win 3-0

Paolo Nebrida was really lucky against Jim Williams, surviving some match darts. I don’t think he’ll have any answers for Ross Smith. I think Smith will cruise through this match and win the match 3-0.

9.15pm: Gary Anderson v Jeffery De Graaf – Gary Anderson to win, most 180s & highest checkout

Gary Anderson has never lost his opening match at the World Championships. He’s been coming here since 2010 and I don’t see that changing here.

Jeffery De Graaf survived a scare in Round 1, but I think Anderson will breeze through this. Match treble for Anderson here; win the match, hit the most 180s, and the highest checkout, to get his campaign off and running pretty comfortably.

Dimitri van den Bergh v Dylan Slevin – Dimitri van den Bergh to win 3-0

I think that Dimitri van den Bergh, and no disrespect to Dylan Slevin, would have been delighted that Slevin took out William O’Connor in Round 1. O’Connor really wasn’t at it, and he’d have been a much more awkward opponent for van den Bergh here.

Dimitri is just going to go through the gears here, and I’m backing a scoreline of 3-0 in him heading into Round 3.
