NFL betting tips, generic (broncos v LA raiders)

The NFL Playoffs are upon us and Sunday evening sees the Denver Broncos travelling to the Buffalo Bills.

Gridiron guru Ben Steele‘s got his game face on and has put together value-stuffed Bet Builder for this crunch game. Let’s get his Denver Broncos @ Buffalo Bills betting tips.

Josh Allen anytime touchdown scorer

Coming into the Playoffs with the number two seed and with the heavy favourite for MVP at Quarterback, fans of the Buffalo Bills will be feeling confident.

Josh Allen has been a revelation ever since he entered the league in 2018 and is a true dual threat at the quarterback position. Over the last two years, Allen has scored 19 rushing touchdowns, and historically, he’s saved most of his running for the playoffs.

With Allen, it seems that the brighter the light and the bigger the stage the more likely he is to go for the big play, and that often involves running the ball. With James Cook (more on him in a moment) offering a threat as both a runner and receiver, Allen is particularly dangerous in the red zone. With so much pressure on his shoulders, I’m backing Allen, who has four rushing touchdowns in his last four Playoff games to find the endzone once again.

James Cook anytime touchdown scorer

In 2024, the Bills’ offence has, broadly, allowed their opponents to pick their poison. If you want to go all out to stop Josh Allen, then they’ll just hand the ball off to James Cook, and he’ll get you instead. Cook scored 16 rushing touchdowns in the regular season, making him one of only eight men to score more than his own quarterback, and his two receiving TDs make him the third most regular scorer in the NFL.

Despite this success, Cook missed out on the Pro Bowl this year and will be looking to prove to the voters that they made a huge mistake there in a prime slot on Sunday evening. Cook failed to score a touchdown in the playoffs last year, and he’ll be a hot favourite here to put that right.

Keon Coleman anytime touchdown scorer

As I said earlier, in the big games, Josh Allen loves to try and make a big play, and usually, when the Bills are looking to go big in the passing game, that only means one man, Keon Coleman.

The rookie receiver has been something of a boom-or-bust prospect for Buffalo this season, catching 29 passes for 556 yards, an average of 19.2 yards per catch. With Khalil Shakir providing Allen with a safety blanket as a sure pair of hands, who will almost guarantee a first down, Coleman is the electric deep threat that has seen a dramatic increase in targets in recent weeks.

The second-round pick was targeted 57 times this season, but just under 1/3 of those targets came in the last two weeks. The Denver defence has been pretty middle of the road against the pass, so I wouldn’t be shocked to see Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady try to attack them early with a few deep shots to Coleman. Look for the youngster to score.

Bo Nix, Over 223.5 passing yards

With Buffalo coming into the game as heavy favourites, the Denver Broncos will know they’ll need a big game from a rookie of their own, quarterback Bo Nix. Drafted 12th overall, the former Oregon Ducks QB has made the starting job his own in Denver and has more than held his own with some of the best in the league this season.

Nix actually has more passing yards (3,775) and touchdown passes (29) than Josh Allen. In fact, he only has 100 fewer rushing yards than his opposite number, too. The big difference comes when you look at turnovers. Nix has thrown three times as many INTs as Allen in 2024, but if Denver’s number 10 can keep that under control, Sean Payton’s side is well in the game. As I’ve already said, I expect Buffalo to put up a lot of points, so Nix will be passing a lot. His yardage line looks too low to me.

Courtland Sutton, Over 64.5 receiving yards

If Nix is passing, then that’s great news for Courtland Sutton. Drafted the same year as Josh Allen, Sutton has developed into a solid number one wideout option in Denver. He leads the team in every major receiving statistic and in the biggest game of Nix’s professional career, I’d expect him to rely on Sutton for support.

While that means the Bills will likely key in on Sutton and try to stop him, I think he’s good enough to cover his receiving yards line, particularly as the Broncos chase the game in the second half. Sutton has been thrown to at least six times in every game since mid-October. I don’t expect anything different on Sunday.
