16:30 – Sovereign Sea
With further progress plausible, SOVEREIGN SEA is taken to defy top weight. Muddy Mooy is the chief danger on form, ahead of Nahy and Lechuga Lad.
17:00 – Sun Festival
After a solid C&D effort, SUN FESTIVAL could improve his respectable record at this level. Marinakis (second choice) has good claims in this grade, while Zumaaty is interesting, given the location and time of year.
17:30 – Brinton
Marvellous Lady never looked like justifying favouritism when plugging on into fifth, one length behind BRINTON, over slightly shorter on her yard debut.
However, this extra distance is in her favour and fitting a visor could also help.
After a terrible start, the selection performed miracles to get as close as she did. She surely has a race in her at this level. Sunset In Paris and Twistaline are others in the melting pot.
18:00 – City Cyclone
If Lord Rapscallion could transfer his recent Polytrack form to this surface, he would have plenty to offer, but that is up in the air.
CITY CYCLONE defends an unbeaten record over C&D. Although there’s a danger he could be revved up by running over 6f last time, he still looked ahead of the handicapper when winning here in January.
Fools Rush In can also be involved, while Eden Storm gave off better signals here last time and is also in the reckoning.
18:30 – Path To Dubai
Most of the runners bring good stats and/or solid credentials. The percentage call goes to PATH TO DUBAI, whose latest performance has substance and who looks open to further improvement. Kitty Foyle is the suggested second choice.
19:00 – Ignac Lamar
A chance is taken on IGNAC LAMAR, who isn’t exactly solid on recent form but looks interesting off a handy mark with Robert Havlin back on board.
Steadily improving Piperstown (second choice) has obvious claims, while closely matched rivals Back Tomorrow and Combustion are also in the mix. A few others also have possibilities.
19:30 – Jumira Bridge
There’s a good chance this will be run at a brisk pace, which would suit last year’s winner, JUMIRA BRIDGE, for whom a return to form can’t be ruled out.
His recent efforts aren’t exactly compelling, but he finished closer at Chelmsford last time out, and a chance is taken that he can make the most of a drop in the weights.
Several acceptable alternatives exist, with Galileo Glass as a token second choice.
20:00 – Big Time Rascal
A chance is taken on BIG TIME RASCAL, who is still a maiden but looks interesting off an attractive mark back down in trip and has a ground-saving draw to boot.
State Of Madness (second choice) is threatening to win a race of this nature, while Apache Star has solid claims in the retained blinkers and Maharajas Express remains of interest at this level.
20:30 – Wonder (NAP)
The finale can go to WONDER (nap), whose latest effort has been franked and who likely still has further improvement in him.
Recent C&D winner Sax Appeal is the second choice, ahead of Met Office, who is interesting returning to Wolverhampton.
