12:12 – Charlatan

David Simcock had a double at this track on Thursday and CHARLATAN is expected to provide him with another winner.

He won a similar event over a mile at this course last year and went like the best horse at the weights in a handicap at Southwell last month. He stands out at the weights now back in classified company and is expected to resume winning ways.

Autumn Angel and course and distance winner Ajrad can’t be ruled out.

12:42 – Match Anthem

MATCH ANTHEM took advantage of a tumbling mark when opening his account in a handicap over this trip at Chelmsford in November and he followed up at Wolverhampton on Boxing Day.

He was a shade fortunate that day, given a good ride and only just holding on, but he looks the one to beat again now down into classified company, and he’s expected to complete a hat-trick.

Star of Atlantis is the obvious threat having won a similar event at Southwell last week, with Seas of Elzaam best of the others.

13:12 – Groovy Baby

This race revolves around how much ability Al Waqidi retains after a long time off the track. He was unbeaten in two starts for Charlie Appleby but was purchased for just £16,000 in March 2023 and hasn’t been seen for three years.

The market will likely reveal more, but it could pay to side with a race-fit and in-form rival in the shape of GROOVY BABY, who travels strongly and should enjoy the drop back to seven furlongs.

This isn’t the deepest of contests and Next Trick is another to consider starting out for Archie Watson.

13:42 – Mumayaz

There should be a good pace to aim at here with a couple of front runners in the field, and that will suit MUMAYAZ, who is typically patiently ridden.

He only beat two rivals home at Newcastle on Friday, but he was awkward leaving the stalls on that occasion, and this looks an easier opportunity. Tony Carroll remains in good form, and he could be worth chancing in a race, which should set up well for him.

In-form pair Gogo Yubari and Recon Mission are obvious threats.

14:12 – Kapparis Kid

KAPPARIS KID isn’t the most straightforward conveyance, but he was well-backed and did little wrong when resuming winning ways at Southwell last week.

He was all out at the line but arrives in form, and this race doesn’t look any stronger, so he’s a tentative selection to follow up. Suanni and Fai Fai are a couple of others to note.

14:42 – Marinakis

MARINAKIS took his form up a level when getting off the mark at Chelmsford on Thursday, landing a gamble in style back up significantly in trip, and Ian Williams’ low-mileage sort is fancied to quickly add to that under a penalty given he’s totally unexposed at a mile.

Serious Look should prove suited by dropping back in trip here and rates the chief threat, although Kitaro Kich, Raqraaq and I Can’t Believe can all have a say in this competitive handicap.

15:12 – Tortured Soul

TORTURED SOUL had an excellent time around this time last year, winning six times between December and March. He was recently back to winning ways in smooth style at Wolverhampton.

He’s well handicapped on the pick of his form, so he gets the nod ahead of the thriving Alfheim. Upepo, another last-time-out winner, makes up the shortlist in a competitive race for the grade.

15:42 – Friday Again

FRIDAY AGAIN improved when second on handicap debut over six furlongs at this course 12 days ago, despite shaping as if in need of further, so she can do enough to get off the mark back over an extra furlong.

McKenna and Ornately appeal as the types to do better, so they’re regarded as the main dangers.
