13:07 – King Alexander

KING ALEXANDER had a decent enough run this time last year in the Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton when finishing seventh off a mark of 131. He has dropped 5lbs since coming to Ireland after a disappointing run at Aintree in May.

If you entered a 126-rated Irish horse in an English handicap you’d be looking at a mark of 136 there, so he’s definitely been given a chance by the handicapper. He has to settle better in his races, but in his homework it looks like he should settle better. He does shape and work like a horse that would love this trip and he’s going pretty well in his work.

13:45 – Lets Go Champ (E/W)

In a race that has more exposed than unexposed horses, you can make a case for Hunter’s Yarn, but I’m not sure if he’s much more than a 150-rated horse. If Fils d’Oudairies jumped around he is rated 136, but he’s spent more time on the floor since going chasing, than he has standing up. Outside of that, I don’t see another well-handicapped runner in this race.

The interesting one is LETS GO CHAMP (each-way). I don’t think he stayed the three miles in the Paddy Power Chase last month at Leopardstown. He cruised into the lead half-way down the back, led them down the hill and didn’t get home. He didn’t get home in the Galway Plate, either. He did beat Must Be Obeyed at Punchestown in May but Punchestown is a really fast, level, track. Henry de Bromhead’s has gotten him into the right race here, this will really suit.

If I was training an English two-mile chaser, I would definitely be here for £100,000. The English two-mile handicap chasers are better than the Irish ones and I can’t believe they haven’t even looked at this.

14:18 – Asian Master

The early market is wrong here. On soft to heavy ground, I would much prefer ASIAN MASTER over Tullyhill. When it thaws out, all you get is dead ground at Fairyhouse and that’ll suit Asian Master. He only has half a length to find with Tullyhill from their chasing debut.

15:26 – Runcok

It’s not often Willie Mullins wins a bumper with one having his third run, but there’s definitely a race in this fella. I liked RUNCOK last year when he went to the Punchestown Festival but he finished well down the field, despite being well backed. He then finished third to stablemate Sortudo at Tramore last November. He may be overpriced.
