Greyhound dog racing is still hugely popular in the UK โย and so itโs no wonder thousands of punters flock to Paddyโs greyhound odds every week.
If youโre new to the sport of dog racing then youโre in for a treat. This is the fastest race on the planet, with greyhounds hitting top speeds of 45 mph as they wizz round the track chasing the mechanical hare.
The sport has evolved a lot over the years and now has a small but dedicated following. Races are held pretty much every day of the year, and you can get all the latest greyhound odds at Paddy Power.
Our guide aims to give newcomers a taste of what greyhound betting is like. Weโll also throw you some tips from expert racing tipster and presenter Darrell Williams!
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
How greyhound betting works
Greyhound betting works like any other race sport, such as horse racing or trotting. The aim is to back the dog you think will win or place. To bet on greyhounds youโll need to sign into your Paddy Power profile or set up an account.
Once youโre logged in or have downloaded the app, youโll be able to view all upcoming races for the next day or two.
To bet, simply click on the race you want to follow and look at the racecard. You can then click on the odds of the dog you want to back, and enter your stake in the bet slip. Check youโre happy with your stake and the potential payout, and then his Place Bet.
ย

You can also bet Each Way and add a level of insurance to your dog if it finishes second. Or you can bet on the SP (starting price) of whichever dog happens to be the favourite, or the second favourite.
Watch Live Greyhounds
The great thing about dog betting at Paddy Power is you can watch the races live! You have to place a bet in order to access the live stream, which is available on the Paddy Power website and in the app.
Greyhound races donโt take long to complete, so thereโs no option to bet live during races. However, if youโre new to the sport then live streaming is a great way to get accustomed to how it all works, so you can make smarter bets next time.
Greyhound Racing Tips
Now itโs time to look at Darrell Williamsโ tips for betting on greyhoundsโฆ
1. Good draws win races
Look for the races when the runner in trap one is the only railer โย thatโs a dog who prefers to run on the inside of the track. If every other dog has a โmโ for middle runner or โwโ for wide runner in brackets after its name, youโve found the ideal race.
Itโs the quickest route to success. Trust us.
2. Young dogs win races
Itโs a young dogs game, this. Look for puppies โ thatโs dogs who are not yet two years old. Youโll find the dogโs age on the right-hand side of the racecard.
Have they been winning races? Thereโs every chance they may still be improving. Itโs a clear route to success.
3. Early speed wins races
Races often have multiple front-runners so look for the dog who will be finishing best.
Thatโs the one with the most โrunning onโ or โfinishes wellโ comments on the racecard.

4. The fastest dogs win races
This may sound obvious but itโs true. Look at the runnersโ times on the right-hand side of the racecard โ the asterisk shows its fastest run over the track and distance.
Compare it with the other runners to find the quickest dog in the race.
