The FA Cup 4th rolls into Villa Park on Sunday evening with Unai Emery’s home team taking on a Spurs side who will surely still be licking their wounds after the thumping they took from Liverpool in the League Cup midweek.

Paddy Power tipster Shane O’Brien has dug out four value picks here for a Bet Builder, two of which are covered by Paddy’s Super Sub offer, meaning that if a player is replaced, the pick carries over to his replacement.

Let’s get his Aston Villa v Spurs betting tips.

Aston Villa v Spurs Bet Builder tips

Aston Villa to win
Ollie Watkins to have 2+ shots on target
Morgan Rogers anytime assist
Yves Bissouma to be shown a card

Aston Villa to win

It is difficult to see how Tottenham recover from the 4-0 pasting they suffered at Anfield on Thursday night.

A League Cup final date with Newcastle would have represented Spurs’ best opportunity to end their 17-year trophy drought in a long, long time, and seeing that opportunity snuffed out in the most emphatic manner will surely have an impact on this mentally fragile squad.

Their form has been among the worst in the Premier League, with their 0-2 win at Brentford last weekend snapping a seven-game winless run that saw them collect just a single point.

They’ve won just seven of their last 20 games in all competitions, with most of those results coming in cup competitions. But despite winning the majority of their cup games, Ange Postecoglou’s side have still managed to be Spursy, requiring extra time to beat non-league Tamworth and doing their very best to throw away a three-goal lead against Manchester United in the League Cup.

Aston Villa, on the other hand, have hardly been in great form themselves, taking just nine points in seven league games since a win over Manchester City before Christmas, culminating in a lacklustre 2-0 defeat at Wolves last weekend.

They should have too much for Spurs, however, and should march on to the last 16 of the FA Cup.

Ollie Watkins to have 2+ shots on target

Ollie Watkins will be even more crucial to Villa’s chances of winning silverware or keeping their place in the Champions League following the loss of Jhon Durán to Saudi Arabia.

Watkins has scored 11 goals in all competitions for Villa this season, one behind Durán’s final tally before making the mid-season transfer. He will have to improve those numbers to make up for Durán’s loss. He is sure to try his luck, at any rate.

Even when Durán was at the club, Watkins averaged the most shots of any Villa player. The English striker averages 2.5 shots per game and should get plenty of opportunities against a Spurs side that faced 26 shots at Anfield.

Spurs face an average of around 13 shots per game in the Premier League this season and have come under far greater pressure of late, facing 94 shots in their last six games – even accounting for a home Europa League game against Elfsborg when they faced just four efforts.

The hosts are likely to register a lot more shots than that – and Watkins could easily find the target at least twice.

Morgan Rogers anytime assist

Morgan Rogers is enjoying an outstanding season, with only Watkins providing more assists than the young midfielder for Villa in the league. He also averages 1.3 key passes per game in the Premier League and 1.6 key passes per game in the Champions League, both the second-highest of any Villa player.

Rogers has been in excellent goal-scoring form lately, scoring a hat trick in the win over Celtic in the Champions League and scoring Villa’s third-round win over West Ham in the FA Cup.

However, he is good value to set up a goal on Sunday and recently teed up Watkins for a winner at Goodison Park. Rogers scored in the 4-1 reversal against Spurs back in November and could be involved again on Sunday.

Yves Bissouma to be shown a card

Discipline is one statistic where Spurs find themselves at the right end of the league.

Spurs boast the third-best disciplinary record in the Premier League, receiving just 44 bookings and one dismissal in 24 games to date. They also rank fairly well in terms of fouls per game, averaging 11 fouls per game and boasting the sixth-lowest fouls per game average in the league.

However, there are still Spurs players who can be relied upon to commit fouls and make their way into the referee’s notebook, Yves Bissouma chief amongst them.

Bissouma has received five bookings this season in the Premier League – the joint-most of any Spurs player – and has also received two bookings in both the League Cup and the Europa League – also the joint-most of any Spurs players. He is by far the most likely Spurs player to be carded on Sunday.
