Northern Cracksman is much respected on the back of his breakthrough Newcastle success but narrow preference is for I CANT BELIEVE, who posted two cracking efforts in quick succession at Wolverhampton early last week. Although DASH GORDON was behind Starshot at Lingfield last time, it might be a different story back at the scene of his defeat of Stroxx (second choice) last month.

20:00 Stella Hogan

There look to be more questions than answers from this field, and the suggestion is STELLA HOGAN. She probably wasn’t best suited by how her latest Kempton start was run, and she looks more likely than most of being capable of better. Opposition doesn’t look plentiful, with Billy McGarry respected and, after hinting at a revival last time, Embarked another possible for some prize money.

20:30 Portoro

There is not much strength in depth and preference is for PORTORO, who has been consistent of late and may be capable of seeing off this field. Fistral Beach has shown a penchant for this venue recently, and she could have a say from a basement mark, while Devasboy returns to what looks his optimum trip and is not ruled out.
