AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Jason Day to win (each-way)

Punters seldom need a second invitation to back Jason Day at Pebble Beach regardless of how he is playing. However, back-to-back terrific ball-striking performances, the first of which yielded a T3, means this is not just a blind bet on the most consistent golfer at Carmel Bay over the last decade.

The Australian has done everything except win the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, with nine top 10s in 14 outings, five of which saw him come in the top five, and once a runner-up.

Day has gained strokes putting in each of his last six appearances at the event. Having struggled in that department in 2025, a return to Poa Annua greens – a surface on which he has won four times on the PGA Tour – gives him an excellent chance of having a week where the flat stick is a weapon rather than a hindrance.

Taylor Pendrith to win (each-way)

Now sitting at a career-best 42nd place in the world rankings, Taylor Pendrith has turned into one of the most reliable individuals on the tour. His last missed cut was at the PGA Championship in May. Since then, the Canadian has registered 11 top 20s in 14 starts.

He has been immaculate from tee to green since his second Presidents Cup appearance in September but has failed to make the most of the opportunities he has created. Still, Pendrith managed to finish T7 at Torrey Pines last week while losing strokes on the greens.

A change in fortunes with the putter would be welcome, and that’s exactly what happened in 2023 at Pebble Beach, as he gained more than five strokes putting, having lost over six strokes with the flat stick the previous year.

Robert MacIntyre to win (each-way)

Victories at the Canadian Open and a very strong Scottish Open in 2024 proved that Robert MacIntyre can compete for top-end titles and this is a course he should excel at, given the requirement for a neat short game at Pebble Beach.

Few players in the world have demonstrated a more complete skillset than the Scot over the last 12 months, and given that his OWGR is 16th, it is a surprise that he is not given more respect in the outright betting market.

MacIntyre has gone under the radar a little this month having posted results of 17-53-15, but driving the ball as well as he is, there is plenty of upside as he makes his debut at the tournament.

Bahrain Championship

David Puig to win

It was an exemplary display from David Puig at the Ras al Khaimah Championship, where he cemented himself as the ‘best of the rest’ while Alejandro del Rey and Marcus Armitage pulled away and essentially took part in a matchplay final round for the title.

Puig, twice a winner on the Asian Tour, has gone 3-12-4-3 in his latest four DP World Tour efforts and is far too talented to be denied a triumph for much longer.

Not only will Puig have eyes on a spot at the PGA Championship with another positive showing, but it is not beyond the realms of possibility that he makes his way into Luke Donald’s plans for the 2025 Ryder Cup.
